Are You Eligible for the OAS Payment in June 2024?
The Canadian government has set certain eligibility that must be qualified by a candidate in order to avail the OAS benefits. I have provided the eligibility criteria in the points listed below:
- As previously mentioned, your employment history will not affect your OAS payment.
- At first, you must be a Canadian citizen to be eligible and must have lived for at least 10 years after turning 18.
- You must be 65 years old or above to receive the OAS payment.
- If you are living outside Canada, then you must have resided in Canada for at least 20 years after turning 18. The age criteria will be same and you must have been a Canadian citizen at the time of living the country.
- In case you’re working for Canadian employers outside Canada, then you must have returned to the country within 6 months of ending of employment.
- A proof of employment from the employer and the physical proof of your return will be required.
How Much OAS Payment You Can Expect in June 2024?
The payment amount that you will receive monthly under OAS will depend on your age. If your age is between 65 to 74, then you are eligible to avail $713.34 in June 2024. In case you are 75 years old or above, then the maximum payment that can arrive on June 26th for you will be $784.67 as your Old Age Security.
