UK Disabled Child Element 2024
There can be several reasons if you have missed out the UK disabled child element in 2024. For instance, the tax credit office does not know regarding your child’s disability and your child is receiving qualifying disability benefits. Even though the DLA unit is responsible to notify the tax credit office when they issue a DLA to a qualifying the child through automatic notification system, still the tax credit office believes that you are responsible to notify them of your child’s qualifying disability benefit award. However, the automatic notification system is having problems while notifying the office regarding the DLA issuance, it caused many families missing out the disabled child element in recent years. Thus, it is advised to the applicants to notify the department regarding your child qualifying for disability benefit award in order to avoid missing out child element.
The tax credit office limits the backdating for one month only. Thus, you are allowed to notify the office regarding your child is receiving qualifying disability benefits within one month of the issuance of the award. In case if you failed to do so, the office will be under no legal responsibility to pay you any further outstanding payments. However, you can also ask the office to further backdate the disability element by using your voluntary powers to re-open your award. You can point out the fact that in previous years, the HMRC or HM Revenue & Customs paid outstanding payments to the families who had missed out the disability element due to failures in automatic notification system.
